Maternal Depression Working Group
Home > Taskforces/Work Groups > Maternal Depression Working Group The New Mexico Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) survey for the years 2004-2007 found that an estimated 20% of women who had a live birth reported that they had postpartum depression symptoms. The prevalence was lowest for women with private health insurance (10%) and highest for women who had been physically abused by a husband or partner (40%). As the result of compiling maternal depression data for the 2009 Women's Health Profile, a presentation was made to the Behavioral Health Planning Council’s Adult Sub-committee, and a Maternal Depression Work Group was organized.
